Family health and hereditary

Firstly in our family, it is only my father who has ever experienced an accident that has left him without an arm up to date. All the other siblings and my mother are all in excellent condition as they have never witnessed an accident. However, my mother suffers from one of the chronic disease called diabetes.  It's a disease that occurs when the body system that helps in fighting infections attacks and destroys insulin hence producing beta cells of the pancreases. (Heath, 2017) This disease is about sugar levels in the body and how it is regulated.

In my interview with my uncle, who was one of the retirees, he explained to me the health status of the previous family members that had died. Firstly, he explains that my maternal grandfather died of diabetes since, in the past, there were no health facilities. Moreover, they were expensive. This brings me to my point of argument. No type of diabetes is genetically passed, but the DNA system easily influences the rate at which one may get the disease. (Hughes, 2016)  If my maternal grandfather had the disease, then it is evident that my mother had his DNA flowing. Due to a weak immune system, my mother got to have the condition. In most families, diabetes is found to be flowing because of the DNA that is passed from generation to generation.

Most members of the family have experienced having diabetes. They mostly realize that they have the disease when they are already old. When young, it is essential to take the following precautions to avoid diabetes. Firstly, one should always drink water as the primary beverage. Secondly, the sugar level usage should depreciate by taking non-sugary foodstuffs. Thirdly, in case the person has an overweight, then the person must reduce weight. Lastly, those with habits of smoking and taking alcohol should cut off the behaviors as they are also a contributing factor.
