Augusto Boal's work in theatre
Augusto is a Brazilian theater practi6tioner, dramas theorist, and political activist. He was the founder of the theater for the oppressed, an abstract form initially used in the rapid population movement that was happening during those times. Theatre for the oppressed is an arsenal of theater techniques and games that help in restoring peace within the community, ensure that safe dialogue of conflicts takes place and that the people can rehearse and take a proper action plan that will lead to solving a particular problem. This theater was also meant to promote education movements and make them successful. ( Eckersley, 1995).
In India, Augusto was mainly focused on the use of his films to try and motivate those people who were living in the slums to try and work extra hard as that was not the end of life. He identified himself with the poor and the things they were going through. ( Eckersley, 1995) Other than that, forum social change video addresses that, he realized that the slums were residing due to the racial differences in the country. He used his films to oppose this strongly. He used a somewhat rebellious motion about the class difference and the mistreatment of the people who came from slums.
Conscientization refers to a concept that focuses on understanding the in-depth of the world and the thing as people go through. It is important to note that Augusto used the self-centered approach I trying to understand what many unfortunate people go through in terms of their social life. He exposed the various wrongdoings that various political leaders and the rich were doing top the poor. Through this, he made the poor have confidence in their daily activities to tackle their problems.
